MODERN CHAIR
Modern Chair was founded by George Howlett in 1912, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren run the business today. Seven Howlett family members are among the highly skilled artisans who make up the tight-knit team; several members of which have been with the company for over 50 years. This special, intergenerational structure helps them remain at the forefront of quality furniture design and manufacturing in New Zealand. Knowledge is continually passed down and apprentices learn from experts who have spent decades honing their craft.
PROFILE FURNITURE
Profile Furniture is a family business committed to producing specialised bespoke crafted furniture for over 40 years. They have an extensive range of modern and traditional upholstered and loose cover furniture designs, all made in Auckland. Profile Furnitures collection of sofas, chairs and ottomans combine simplicity of style, great comfort and quality.
MONTREAUX FURNITURE
Christchurch based Montreaux is dedicated to making the highest quality furniture available in New Zealand. With a firm focus on environmental sustainability, their raw materials are sourced from sustainable supplies, most importantly the timber. All Montreux framing uses Southland Beech, a hardwood taken from 2nd cut growth. The beech is supplied by a Southland based company, the only NZ native timber supplier with a FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) certification for its forestry and processing operations.
FORMA
Forma furniture is manufactured in their Auckland factory, giving you the ability to alter the designs or custom make pieces for a project. Their frame construction is very unique, an engineered building process where they laminate ply and pine together to build the ultimate beam technology. This means frames can be built to very fine proportions.
DAVID SHAW
David Shaw has been designing and manufacturing exclusive quality furniture for over 30 years. David Shaw started on his own β which is great for controlling the quality of the product, when you do everything yourself. This one man operation has become a sizeable company employing highly skilled staff. But even with this growth, David still has a hand in every step of the process to make sure that only the highest quality is achieved in every step.
KOVACS
Kovacs have been designing and constructing luxury furniture in New Zealand for over half a century. In this time they've remained true to the original ethos β from first inspiration to final finish the handiwork must be built to inspire, to uphold and endure. Stephen Kovacs opened the Christchurch furniture business along with his wife Maria in 1963, on Mowbray Street in Sydenham. It was originally Atlas, then later Vertex Continental Furniture. In 1983 the name changed to Kovacs, the family name. Now Kovacs is run by Brother and sister Johnny and Hildy Kovacs.
